About The Visit
Principal Sarah Goodman will frame this visit by sharing Hunter’s Point Community Middle School’s literacy vision and goals for their inclusive and integrated school community focusing this year on equity across races and IEP status. This session is appropriate for School Leaders, APs, Budget Folks, Programmers, and Teacher Leads. There will be a particular emphasis on the strategic use of resources to support school wide efficacy in reading, writing, speaking, and thinking. Participants will learn about programming strategies with an emphasis on alternate schedules and STARS implications, view school wide shared resources and data tracking systems for word generation and DRP, and discuss budget implications. Participants will also be able to visit strategic reading periods, including our debate team, Wilson Reading, Creative Writing, and other small group reading instruction classes.
This visit connects to several Quality Review indicators, including 1.1 Curriculum, 1.2 Pedagogy, 1.3 Strategic Decisions, and 5.1 Monitoring & Revising Systems. It ties to all four domains of Danielson, with a particular focus on 1a/e Planning, 3c Engaging Students in Learning, and 4e Professionalism.
