About the School
Hamilton Grange Middle School is a Title I school located in Hamilton Heights, Manhattan. The school is grounded on the premise that “kids do well if they can,” that children have the potential to do well under the right circumstances. Committed to building a community where students can do well, Hamilton Grange Middle School has worked to adopt and implement structures that provide support for students’ intellectual and social-emotional well-being.
About the Visit
At this Showcase, visitors will learn how the school creates a positive school culture through the development of traits known as Hamilton Habits, the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) model, and extracurricular clubs. Additionally, visitors will learn about how its arts and sports clubs, as well as the core components of CPS, improve student-teacher relationships and increase student ownership. At the end of the day, host staff will support visitors in thinking through how to incorporate these practices into their own work.
If you would like to preview some of the artifacts from Showcase Schools, you can find them here in this collection, which is organized alphabetically by the host school’s learning focus area.
